Lost

Not only an awesome Coldplay song, but also how I feel when looking into this set of photos.

Eyes. Are far more complex then most people realize. Colours are only the beginning. They have so much more depth and texture than most people can see. Until you go at them with a macro lens and extension tubes!

Meet my fiancé, Tianna!

More after the jump!

Extension tubes allows you to shorten the minimum focusing distance, which is turn allows you to get closer to the subject and fill the frame. So, in essence it allows you to use any lens in a more macro application. But, when used with a macro lens it amplifies that effect.

It's not all rainbows and lollipops though. When using extension tubes you make some sacrifices. You lose focusing ability (or it becomes slower) and you lose infinity focus. Meaning, you have to be within a small window of distances from your subject to focus- a real pain in the butt.

Extreme macro. Try it out! Luckily, extension tubes are relatively inexpensive on sites like eBay! See larger files on my flickr!

  1. Wow is Tianna's eye the last picture too?? That's really cool! I should try that with my new camera and macro lens.

  2. Haha! Nope, completely different person! Give it a shot! Lighting will be your biggest concern.
