Partnership

Sometimes it isn't about creating the image so much as capturing the moment.

Shared Passions

So, it looks like I have fallen pretty far behind! I will be digging deep for the next few posts to catch up on some work I have done over the past year.

Last summer, Tianna jumped in with both feet and pursued one of her passions. She got herself a horse! "Keep it True" or True for short has been a shared passion for us and Tianna has been keen to try to get my involved with her barn. What better way to get involved than to shoot some horses!

Lost

Not only an awesome Coldplay song, but also how I feel when looking into this set of photos.

Eyes. Are far more complex then most people realize. Colours are only the beginning. They have so much more depth and texture than most people can see. Until you go at them with a macro lens and extension tubes!

Meet my fiancé, Tianna!

The [not-so] Cowardly Lion

The last thing you want to do is challenge this "big" guy. The newest addition to our family is the elegant, yet deadly lionfish. While his spines could easily kill you, he is probably one of the most iconic (and photogenic) fish around.

Frozen in Time!

Back to basics...

That is what this post is about. I have noticed that my blog is surprisingly devoid of down to earth advice and works without supplemental light.

In it's essense photography is one thing. Light.

How you control that light is crucial to how your photo will turn out and the effects you can accomplish. Your tools to control light are your shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

The shot below was captured with only *insert shocked sounds* ambient light.

Soft kitty...

warm kitty. Little ball of fur.

If you havn't noticed already. I love playing with light, and through the University of Waterloo Photography Club (UWPC) I have access to some very powerful strobes. The club has several AleinBees strobes that are available for rent to its members. They also use them at their meetups.

I was recently asked to set up some lighting for a model who volunteered for the meet in return for photos for a portfolio. I thought I would share how I accomplished this photo.
